What is the term “New York Minute” in handicapper or trainer commentary?

To explain a little more, each furlong ought to be run in a workout in about 12 seconds. A 3 furlong work should be finished in 36 seconds. 4 furlongs in 48. 5 furlongs in 1 minute. Anything under those average times would be a fast workout. The New York Minute means that the horse worked 5 furlongs in a quick time (under 1 minute) and refers to the fact that everything happens faster in New York.
