Experience the excitement of thoroughbred horse racing at Emerald Downs. The $250,000 Longacres Mile has been the highlight of the year for more than seventy years. On summer Sundays, families can enjoy pony rides, clowns, and face painting.
Let your feet roam along the track of the Supermall, a value shopping center with over a hundred stores. It also hosts a stadium style regal cinema. Don’t like the crowds? Stroll along the quaint downtown region of Auburn and enjoy the little shops nestled among the public artworks. During the midweek of July, Auburn has a huge sidewalk sale. In August, the Good Ol’ Days festival happens along Main street. A collection of old jalopies parade down the street, venders sell their wares, bands play, and children enjoy games. One of the largest Veterans Day parades, marches across Auburn’s streets the Saturday before Veteran’s Day. The first Saturday of December welcomes the Santa parade followed by community caroling and lighting of the City Hall Christmas tree.
