4 reasons why your dog should wear a collar and tag

1. The Control of Dogs Order 1992

Some people see dog collars and even dog leads as a fancy luxury, but this is not the case. In the UK, the control of The Control of Dogs Order 1992 says that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or on a tag. Your telephone number is optional, but it is recommended.

2. Microchipping

Some people believe that if their dog is microchipped that the dog doesn’t require a tag with the details on. This is incorrect. The dog should always have a dog collar and tag on even if they are microchipped.

3. If your dog doesn’t have a dog tag?

With the Control of Dogs Order, if your dog is caught not wearing a dog collar or dog ID tag then you could be fined up to £5000. This is a lot of money considering
